# Optic footprint guide: RMR, RMSc, DPP, Holosun K and ACRO

A red dot only fits a slide cut for its footprint, the mounting pattern on its base. RMR is the common full-size footprint; RMSc is the narrower one for slim carry pistols, and we cut Holosun K-series dots as RMSc. DeltaPoint Pro and Aimpoint ACRO each have their own footprint.

## What is an optic footprint?

The footprint is the pattern on the underside of a red dot: the size of its base, where its screw holes sit and where its recoil bosses are. An optic cut is milled to match one footprint, so the dot sits directly on the slide with no plate.

## What's the difference between RMR and RMSc?

Size. RMR dots have a larger base and suit full-size and compact pistols. RMSc dots are narrower so they don't overhang a slim slide. A dot made for one won't mount in a cut made for the other.

## What about enclosed emitters?

Enclosed dots like the Aimpoint ACRO and Holosun 509T keep dirt and rain off the emitter. They use their own footprints. Our [G19 Griffin](https://buttonlandcustoms.com/product/g19-griffin) is designed for the Holosun 509T.

## Direct mount, screws and torque

We mill cuts to direct-mount the dot, without an adapter plate. Our [Optic Cut Screw Pack](https://buttonlandcustoms.com/product/optic-cut-screw-pack) has M3x.5 Torx screws in 8 mm and 10 mm; we recommend non-permanent thread locker and 10 in-lb of torque. Check your optic's manual too.

### What's the difference between RMR and RMSc optic cuts?

Size. The RMR footprint is the larger mount pattern used by full-size dots, for duty and full-size pistols. The RMSc footprint is narrower, made for slim carry pistols like the Glock 43 and Sig P365. RMR dots include the Trijicon RMR Type 2, Trijicon SRO and Trijicon RMR. RMSc dots include the Swampfox Sentinel, Holosun 407K-X2 and Holosun 507K-X2. A dot only fits a cut made for its footprint.

### Which red dots fit an RMR optic cut?

Any dot built on the RMR footprint, including the Trijicon RMR Type 2, Trijicon SRO, Trijicon RMR, Trijicon RM01 RMR Type 2 and Swampfox Kingslayer RMR. The Trijicon RMRcc is a different, smaller footprint and needs its own cut. Every optic listing in our shop names its footprint, so you can match it to your slide's cut before you buy.

### What is the Holosun K footprint?

It's the mount pattern of Holosun's compact K-series dots, made for slim carry pistols. We list K-series dots on the RMSc footprint and cut them as RMSc. Our RMSc optics include the Swampfox Sentinel, Holosun 407K-X2, Holosun 507K-X2 and Holosun EPS Carry. Check your optic's manual for its plate or screw requirements, and tell us the exact model when you book a cut.

### What optic footprint does the Aimpoint ACRO use?

Its own: the ACRO footprint. The Aimpoint ACRO is an enclosed-emitter dot and doesn't fit RMR or RMSc cuts. We cut slides for the ACRO directly for $15 more than a standard optic cut. Pick the ACRO pattern when you book an optic cut.
